Ambleside Brownies News Pages!!!

We started this term with our annual trip to Blackpool to the Pantomine. Only to find that Jungle Jims and the tower were closed due to the weather! We were directed to The Sealife Centre instead and everyone had a great time. The Panto was excellent as usual, as was tea at Pizza Hut!
This term we have been working towards The Big Brownie Birthday Challenge and beginning to celebrate 100 Years of Brownies in the UK. We held a joint Thinking Day event with other units from the Division, and had an Australian Brownie visit us in January 2014. We have made gifts and cards for our Mums for Mothering Sunday, and had some joint meetings with Windermere Brownies. We have 2 ex-Brownies who have just joined us for their D of E service as Young Leaders and we are pleased to welcome them back. Marie also gained her 1st Aid for Camps and Holidays and Sarah her Catering for Camps and Holidays meaning 3 Leaders have now completed all the GirlGuiding Residential Qualifications.

Its been a busy old year so far, we have done many exciting things from Bag Packs, to making edible bonfires! In June we welcomed a new Leader, Emily Gudgeon who has been a great asset to the team. Emily did the Science Investigator Badge with the girls in September and we had great fun building earthquake proof structures and finding out which liquids were the heaviest. We also tested for Acids and Alkalis using Emily's Home-made Red Cabbage Indicator!
In October we had our Mamma Mia Pack Holiday at Park House, where Sarah gained her Catering Licence and Marie her First Aid for Camps and Holidays.
We are now looking forward to the Panto Trip on January 3rd 2014! Hopefully Blackpool will be ready for us to invade again!

Well the last 6 months have flown by - We've been to the panto in Blackpool at the start of the year. Joined with other units for a District Thinking Day in Grasmere. We've done a bag pack in ASDA, been to Brockhole for a paddle and picnic, had themed evenings around India, what is important to me and Jelly Babies. Joined with Grasmere Brownies for a challenge night, and been on a teddy bears picnic.
There is much more fun to come in September and a Pack Holiday in October!
