What does it cost?
Parents pay £20 at the start of each term (£60 per year), which covers the costs of all the materials we buy for crafts and activities we do, the annual census that we pay and a contribution towards the upkeep of the hut. The Leaders are all volunteers and give their time and effort free of charge. Although other units may charge more in subs we have decided to leave ours at £20 so as we feel we may charge for your girls to go on trips and pack holidays.
In addition to this girls are expected to purchase uniform to wear at Brownies which can be ordered from our division depot. Please ask for a catalogue. They may wear their uniform from the day they make their promise. The choice of uniform is up to the individual and her family. All we ask is that they have a brownie jumper and a sash, although you may wish to purchase additional items of uniform, such as brownie t-shirt and trousers, otherwise a yellow t-shirt and black or brown trousers may be worn. We encourage the girls to wear sensible footwear - i.e trainers, (flat shoes are also fine if girls don't have trainers.) We do not allow girls to wear slip-on shoes, open-toed shoes or sandals for health and safety reasons.
At their Promise Celebration, girls will receive a promise box with their Adventure and Badge Books in as well as a certificate welcoming them to the pack, which are subsidised by the unit.
